The fiction book The Lodger by Valerie Keogh was an easy and delightful read. At the start of the book, I was rolling my eyes when the main character left her boyfriend at home while she went away for a week. It was so cliche' what was going to happen and I was a little bit disappointed when my prediction turned out to be correct. Otherwise, the plot line was full of uncertainty and intrigue as my mind tried to solve the drama of a missing person and eventually a dead body that ensued on the pages. I was left guessing to the very end as to who was the culprit. It was an easy read that kept me turning the pages as I wanted to know the resolution of the plot. My only complaint was that the story had two aspects one all encompassing an another smaller story arc. As I read, I was assuming that the two would converge at some point and I was right. However, the explanation of how they fully meshed together was spotty at best, it just didn't make total sense to me as the reader as it lacked credibility. The storyline was completed and I was not left wondering about a resolution. However, it was an abrupt conclusion. I was disappointed in how the conclusion was conveyed. Once again, it just didn't make sense to me as I read. But that is the joy of fiction, it doesn't have to make complete sense to be a great read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
